Free printable shooting targets
Five targets that print at true scale: a sight-in grid, a click grid sized in MOA or MIL for your distance, a red dot zero target, a ten-dot pistol target and a five-aim-point sheet. Each one prints on its own page of US Letter or A4, in black and white, with a one-inch bar on every sheet so you can check the scale before you shoot.
Print at 100% or “Actual size,” never “Fit to page.” Then measure the bar in the bottom corner. If it is not one inch, the squares are not the angle they say.
Sight-in grid (1-inch squares)
A 1-inch grid with a center diamond and inch numbers from the center, for getting a new optic on paper and reading a miss in inches.
MOA or MIL click grid
Squares sized to a true angle at 25, 50 or 100 yards, so you count squares and turn them straight into clicks. Pick the unit your turrets use.
Red dot and iron sight zero target
A bold aiming square with a white center on a 1-inch grid, sized for zeroing a red dot or irons at 25 or 50 yards.
Ten-dot pistol target
Ten numbered 2-inch dots for Dot Torture-style accuracy practice at 3 to 5 yards.
Five aim points
Five separate 1-inch dots spread across the sheet: one shot at each for the rifle dot drill, or five groups on one sheet.
Which target for which job
Getting a new optic on paper. Start with the sight-in grid at 25 yards, then move to the click grid at your zero distance. The whole process, from boresighting to a confirmed zero, is in Getting On Paper — Your First Zero. At the start of later sessions, run Zero Confirmation on a fresh grid.
Turning a miss into clicks. On the click grid every square is already an angle at the distance you chose, so count squares from your group’s center to the diamond and multiply by the clicks per square printed at the top. No inches-to-MOA arithmetic, and no confusion between the two units.
Accuracy drills. The ten-dot target is for Dot Torture-style practice. It gives you the dots; the course of fire comes from the original Dot Torture target from its creator. The five-aim sheet is laid out for the rifle Dot Drill — Five Separate Aims, and works just as well for five separate groups when you run the 5-Shot Group Standard.
If your printer shrinks it. Most print dialogs default to “Fit to page,” which scales everything down a few percent. That is invisible to the eye and enough to make a 1-MOA square read wrong. Set the scale to 100% and print again; a measured bar is the only proof.
