5-Shot Group Standard
beginnerThe foundation of all precision-rifle evaluation. Five shots, best position, full focus. Your group feeds The Rifle Path.
Fire 5 shots with maximum attention to fundamentals: natural point of aim, respiratory pause, trigger press, follow-through, and calling every shot. Do not rush — this is not a timed drill.
Mount your rifle in your most repeatable supported position (prone, bipod, or bench). Dial in your zero. Use a clean target at exactly 100 yards. Load 5 rounds.
Measure extreme spread (center-to-center of the two widest holes). Record the group size in inches. Compare against The Rifle Path standards: ≤3" → Marksman, ≤2" → Sharpshooter, ≤1.5" → Expert, ≤1" → Master, ≤0.75" → High Master.
