Printable reloading log sheet

A bench card for one loading session: what went into each batch, where every charge came from, and a checklist to run before a single round leaves the bench. Print it, fill it in as you load, and keep it with the ammunition until the batch is shot.

It is the bench half of a load-development session. At the range, record the groups on the printable ladder test worksheet, then analyze them with the ladder test tool. With a chronograph, record velocities on the printable chronograph log. How to plan the ladder itself is in Running a Charge Weight Ladder, and why each column is worth writing down is in Recording It Properly.

This sheet suggests no charges and never will. Copy every charge from a current manual published by the powder or bullet maker for your exact components, and write that source at the top.

Prints on Letter or A4, in black and white. Save as PDF from the print dialog.

Total rounds ________  ·  Primers used ________  ·  Primers left ________  ·  Bullets used ________

At the bench

  • Every charge above is copied from the data source named at the top, for these exact components, and none is above its published maximum.
  • Scale zeroed and checked with a check weight; re-checked every 10 charges.
  • One powder and one box of bullets on the bench. Everything else put away.
  • Every charge weighed. Every charged case looked into before seating: powder levels match.
  • Primers seated below flush; feel every case head.
  • Length checked on the first round and every 5th after.
  • A dummy round fits the magazine and chambers freely.

Stop if anything does not match this card: a charge, a bullet, a primer or a length. Never load a charge that is not written on this card.

This sheet records what you load. It never suggests a charge. Take every charge from a current manual published by the powder or bullet maker for your exact components, start where it tells you to start, and never exceed its maximum.
